In the early days, Creative Salvage began as an environmentally friendly contractual demolition and clean-up business, trying to make a difference in the local area. As with many small towns across the US, the effects of global outsourcing were prevalent in Tarboro NC, with factories dating back to the industrial revolution left abandoned and buildings falling apart.
To create a positive change, work in some exercise and take advantage of the rising metal prices, Steve, Cathy and Peter Herring began mutually beneficial contracts with local property owners to take down the abandoned buildings and recycle however they could. They began to realize that every piece had a special purpose and could be up-cycled, recycled, restored, reclaimed, scrapped or salvaged one way or another.
As business grew, so did our vision for Creative Salvage. We are a family devoted to saving wasted resources and preserving the stories of cast away objects. From this concept Creative Salvage Designs was born.
Our art, design, sculpture and painting seeks to tell the stories of these items and to inspire others to value things that are commonly overlooked.
